KUCHING, June 11: The Sessions Court here sentenced a 37-year-old father to nine years’ imprisonment and four strokes of the rotan for putting his private part on his 7-year-old daughter’s body.
The 37-year-old accused changed his plea and pleaded guilty to the charge here today.
Sessions Court Judge Jason Juga sentenced him to imprisonment of nine years, with effect from the date of arrest and four strokes of the rotan.
He was found putting his private part on the back of the victim’s body without having sexual intercourse in a room in their house, at about 8 pm on August 19, 2019.
He was charged under Section 14(d) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 and punishable under Section 16(1) of the same Act, which carries a maximum imprisonment of 20 years and liable to whipping, upon conviction.
According to the facts of the case, the victim’s mother, upon seeing that the door to the room where the incident took place was closed, went to investigate. When she found that the door was closed and blocked by a box, she forced open the door and saw the victim and the accused in the room.
The victim said that the accused had asked her to lie down with her back facing him. The accused then asked the victim to pull down her trousers after which he used his private part to touch the victim’s buttocks and the back of her body.
According to the victim, this was the third time that year that the accused had done such a thing to her.—DayakDaily
