KUCHING, May 20: Nine telecommunication tower projects have been implemented under the Sarawak Multimedia Authority Rural Telecommunication (Smart) Phase 1 in Meluan.
According to Assistant Minister of Utilities (Rural Electricity) Datuk Liwan Lagang, the telecommunication equipment installation work on the tower is currently underway and is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2022.
“Meanwhile, there are 29 new communication towers to be built in Meluan constituency under the National Digital Network (Jendela) plan this year.
“The project has begun and is currently at the site survey stage,” said Liwan in his reply to the question from Meluan assemblyman Rolland Duat Jubin at the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting today.
Of the total, Liwan noted, two towers are scheduled for completion in the second quarter of 2023 while the remaining 27 towers are scheduled to be fully completed and will be operational in the third quarter of 2023.
He said telecommunication towers under Smart Phase 1 also covers Ulu Entabai, Ng Ensiring, Ng Klangas, Ng Sepitoh, Batu 15 Jalan KJD, Ulu Balut Lasi, Sg Strass, Tg Udol and Ng Ayam.
“In addition, a total of 25 satellite broadband service locations have been installed and are operating in the Meluan area,” he added. — DayakDaily
