KUCHING, Feb 20: An elderly man was reported missing when he failed to return after leaving his longhouse at TR Richard Tawan, Tebarong, Lubok Skrang, in Engkilili to seek treatment at a clinic.
In a Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) report, a call was received at 9.07pm on Thursday (Feb 19), and firefighters from the Betong station were deployed.
Based on the chronology of events, the victim, 84-year-old Igoh Sengaling, was said to have left home on Feb 18 at about 7am, travelling in his own boat to the clinic to collect medication from Skim Skrang Clinic.
According to family members, when he failed to return, a search was conducted together with residents around the longhouse and nearby forest, but failed to find any trace or clues after two days, leading to the lodging of a police report on Thursday at 7.51pm.
It was noted that his boat was found approximately 1.5k from the operations command post, which became the focus point of the search.
Additionally, a land search covering a radius of 1km, as well as a river search extending upstream along the Skrang River within a 2km radius, were also conducted. — DayakDaily
