SIBU, Nov 8: A total of 83 motorists were issued with notices for various offences while three illegal foreigners were also detained in an integrated operation around town last night.
During the operation, officers from the Road Transport Department (JPJ) issued 83 notices to motorists for various violations, which included lacking a Vehicle License (LKM), expired LKM, driving without a license, expired driving license, as well as the use of HID lights and non-compliance with registration number specifications.
The Immigration Department, meanwhile, arrested three foreigners consisting of two women and a man for an offense under Section 15(1)(c) and Section 6(1) (c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 (Act 155).
At the same time, the National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK) Sibu detained three local men who tested positive for methamphetamine.
The Operation was carried out by JPJ, the Immigration Department, the National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK) and the Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Department (JPST) in Jalan Oya.
Speaking to reporters at the operation, Sarawak Federal Secretary, Dato Ahmad Nadzri Mohd Hassan wants enforcement agencies in Sarawak to conduct more integrated operations to ensure that enforcement tasks are carried out more comprehensively and effectively.
He said such integrated operations are not only held during the festive season, but from time to time.
He said, through the integrated operation, enforcement agencies can detect and take action on offenses according to the law under their respective jurisdictions. — DayakDaily
