KUCHING, Feb 14: The upgrading works involving the 7th Mile Market worth RM400,000 is expected to be completed within five months.
Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap said the project, which was approved under his Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) funding, has been awarded to Mibit Enterprise company with Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) as the implementing agency.
Yap handed over the contract to the company during a meeting arranged by MPP recently.
During the meeting, Yap had also instructed the contractor to start the project as soon as possible and to complete it within five months with minimum disturbance and inconvenience to the hawkers and their customers at the market.
The project scope includes construction of a new shed, replacement of new awnings, replacement of new uPVC (unplasticised polyvinyl chloride) down pipes, demolishing broken tiles and replacement of new titles, cleaning and repainting works of the whole market, removal of all dilapidated drain covers and replacement of new drain covers and bamboo blinds, supply of new 26-inch three-blade industrial wall fans, and electric pest killers and a new signboard for the market.
Yap further reassured the public that he will continue to serve as the eyes and ears of the community and will continue to highlight and try to resolve issues or problems of public interest while remain committed to serving the people regardless of their race, religious and political inclination.
“The completion of the upgrading works at 7th Mile Market will allow hawkers and customers to sell and buy the daily market produce in a more conducive environment.
“This is another Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government’s people-centric project for the benefit of the communities within Kota Sentosa constituency,” he said in a statement today. — DayakDaily
