SIBU, Sept 19: A total of 78 supporters and members of Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) from Rumah Agan Bubung in Dijih Tamin, Jalan Igu, Selangau submitted membership forms to join Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) on Saturday (Sept 17).

Another 100 residents of the longhouse are also in the process of joining PBB.

According to Agan Bubung, they made a mistake by supporting PSB during the last State election.

“We are very pleased to accept the presence of PBB as our new party here because we are very eager for development.

“We have chosen the wrong path for a long time but this time we want to support the Sarawak State government led by Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) through PBB,” he stressed.

Agan said this when handing over new PBB membership forms to PBB N.59 Tamin head, Meyu Beruang at a programme held at the former’s longhouse.

“By being a member of PBB which is the backbone of GPS, it is hoped that we here can receive appropriate development.

“This is because we have been sidelined for a long time by the party we used to support and we really need development from the State government,” he explained.

Following that, Meyu welcomed the actions of Agan and the longhouse residents under his charge for their decision in choosing to support PBB.

“I understand from Agan that as many as 100 more residents will apply to become members of PBB.

“This is a good development for the party and the people have begun to realise that only the GPS government is capable of serving the people,” he said.

Accordingly, he said that his branch is now actively recruiting new members in the Tamin constituency.

He said, they are targeting recruiting 6,000 to 7,000 new members, including youth, for the PBB Tamin branch.

“We hope that this target will be achieved by the end of this year.

“The purpose of recruiting new members is to strengthen grassroots people’s support for PBB by becoming members, as well as opening the door to those who do not have a party yet,” he said. — DayakDaily
