76yo fisherman found dead after reported missing for 3 days in Limbang

KUCHING, Nov 25: A 76-year-old fisherman from Rumah (Rh) Sing Kerangan Ma Ulu in Limbang was found dead after being reported missing for three days.

According to a report from the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operations centre today, they were informed of the matter by Bomba Limbang after receiving the call from Limbang district police at 12.20pm on Nov 23.

The incident was reported by the victim’s son, who was informed by his brother-in-law at 10.30pm that his father-in-law failed to return after going out fishing at the nearby river on Nov 22 before making a police report the next day.

Following that, on Nov 23, Bomba Limbang launched a search and rescue (SAR) operation together with local villagers but could not find any trace of the victim.

On the third day of the operation (Nov 25), at 12.45pm, the SAR team was informed by residents that the victim’s body was found floating in a river near Rh Tanah Merah longhouse.

The deceased’s body was later retrieved and brought to a jetty at Jalan Medamit and handed over to the police for further action. — DayakDaily
