75 Buddhist, Taoist religious bodies each receive RM12,800 from Unifor

KUCHING, Nov 18: A total of 75 Buddhist and Taoist associations each received RM12,800 from the Unit for Other Religions (Unifor) as assistance for their day to day operational cost incurred during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Deputy Premier Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian presented the special grant to the associations in a brief ceremony held at the Auditorium of Kuching South City Council (MBKS) today.

“The grant through Unifor is part of the Sarawak government’s effort to look after the interest of all Sarawakians irrespective of race and religion.

“All of us should be grateful that only the Sarawak government recognises and cares about the needs of all religious bodies including through giving of grants,” he said in a statement today.

MBKS Mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng, political secretary to Premier Tan Kai, Temenggong Tan Joo Phoi and Federation of Kuching and Samarahan Division Chinese Association president Dato Richard Wee were among those present. — DayakDaily
