72yo fisherman found safe after getting stranded at sea near Kuala Mukah

KUCHING, June 17: A 72-year-old fisherman who was stranded at sea after experiencing engine failure was found safe two nautical miles from Kuala Mukah here today.

According to a report by Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), the victim was found at 10.30am by another fisherman, less than 30 minutes after Bomba first received a call regarding the incident.

Based on earlier information, the victim was unable to return home after his boat experienced engine failure around three nautical miles from Kuala Mukah.

“Bomba rushed to the location and escorted the fishing boat back to the jetty,” the report said. — DayakDaily
