KUCHING, March 16: A 70-year-old man was found dead at a factory in Pending Industrial Estate yesterday, crushed between stacks of pallets and the blades of a forklift.

According to reports by the Kuching District Police Headquarters (IPD Kuching), police received a call about the incident at approximately 4pm yesterday.

At the scene, police found the man, a local and employee of the factory, unconcious and trapped between a stack of pellets and the blades of a forklift, which had struck the left side of the victim’s chest. It was also found that the man was the driver of the forklift.

“The medical team arrived at the scene and confirmed that the man had passed away,” Kuching police chief ACP Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah said.

“The body of the man has been sent to Sarawak General Hospital and an autopsy will be conducted. The case is being investigated as a sudden death report.

“The police urge the public not to make any speculation regarding this incident to maintain the sensitivity of the deceased’s family,” Mohd Farhan added.
