KUCHING, Aug 6: Some 70 residents in Melikin, Balai Ringin have decided to quit Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) to join Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS), a partner of the the state ruling Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) led government.

PRS Youth chief Datuk Snowdan Lawan said he has received the application forms from the residents to join PRS last Saturday, adding that he was glad of such a decision.

“I am glad they have understood and are able to differentiate which party really struggles for their welfare, well-being and interests as Sarawakians,” he said.

In stating this, he asserted that PRS is one of the strongest partners of the GPS state government ruling coalition.

Meanwhile, he urged the people of Sarawak not to vote for the same leader again who has abandoned them after winning the 14th General Election (GE14).

Snowdan, who is also Balai Ringin assemblyman emphasised that the people were now deprived of RM2 million Minor Rural Project (MRP) and RM5 million Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) annual funding from the state government resulting from Sri Aman MP’s ‘ship-jumping’ to the opposition.

“You voted for him to win during the last PRU14 (also GE14), but he ditched you all in despair, and is this the kind of leader you wish to elect again? You better not,” he quipped at a Randau Ruai event held at Kampung Ensebang Jaya near Serian.

At the event, he announced a RM100,000 RTP funding for the upgrading of the surau and also some repairing works of the village’s community hall.

Another RM10,000 and RM5,000 MRP grants were announced for the Village Security and Development Committee (JKKK) and Women’s Bureau in Balai Ringin and Kampung Ensebang Padang Bilun respectively.—DayakDaily
