KUCHING, May 26: Water supply and low water pressure issues affecting Sibu Jaya and Eco Garden will most likely to be resolved by the end of July, says Dudong assemblyman Dato Sri Tiong King Sing.

Tiong in a statement today said, after raising the issue in the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) recently, Minister of Utility and Telecommunication Datuk Julaihi Narawi has pledged to resolve the matter as soon as possible.

“Hopefully, the residents will no longer need to worry at the end of July. With the water supply issue resolved, the people will finally be able to live life as normal,” he said.

He also conveyed his gratitude to Julaihi for his keen attention over this matter and for the cooperation of the departments involved

Meanwhile, Tiong stressed that the water supply problems which have been plaguing residents in Sibu Jaya and Eco Garden for the past seven years should not be allowed to happen again.

He said the authorities cannot continue to turn a blind eye to these problems faced by the residents there.

He also said urgent matters like this must be resolved with well thought out solutions quickly because water and electricity are basic needs for the people.

“Before approving relevant development plans, government departments must honour the responsibility and obligation to understand whether the utility supplies in the area are sufficient for the planned population.

“Once we have the plan, we must be committed to implementing these plans well and early and not ignore the needs of the people,” he added. — DayakDaily
