7 local bands to battle it out at KWJF’s Jazz Band Search

KUCHING, July 26: A total of seven bands have been shortlisted to compete in the Kuching Waterfront Jazz Festival (KWJF)’s Jazz Band Search on tomorrow (July 27) starting 6pm at the Kuching Waterfront GoDown Amphitheatre.

A media release revealed that the bands shortlisted are Aishah and Ben Hardie Band, Lucid Maestro, Atma Niskala, Jazzanova, The Fingerprints, Sang Timur and SL2J.

This year’s talent competition looks out for creativity, originality and composition to select a winning band to perform at the upcoming KWJF on Sept 27-28 at the Waterfront Walkway, near Grand Margherita Hotel here.

Four finalists will be selected to compete in the Final Round on Aug 27 at the Sky Lounge of Riverside Majestic Hotel Astana Wing.

As one of Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC)’s objectives to develop and nurture local Sarawak musicians, this year’s KWJF will see our own local Sarawak bands perform alongside with a line up of musicians and performers from around the world namely Singapore, the Philippines, Australia, USA, Indonesia and Malaysia.

There will be lucky draw prizes for the audience at today’s competition.

Festival tickets are also available on sale during the competition at the Godown Amphitheatre.
