BETONG, Sept 28: A six-year-old boy is feared to have drowned after falling into a river near his house in Kampung Hilir Debak Laut in Debak today.
Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Sarawak promptly responded to an emergency call, initiated by a police report filed by the victim’s uncle at around 10.30am.
A team of firefighters from the Betong Station was swiftly despatched to the scene.
According to firefighters, an eyewitness observed the young boy falling into the river and immediately alerted the family.
They rushed to the site but could only locate his shoes and clothes at the jetty.
It was learnt that the young boy had ventured out from the house alone at about 9.15am.
The search and rescue operation is still in progress, with the boy yet to be found as of 5pm. — DayakDaily
