PADAWAN, Sept 7: A 67-year-old man was killed after the motorcycle he was riding skidded off Jalan Haji Baki towards Jalan Kampung Semaba here early this morning.
In a TVS news report, Padawan district police chief Superintendent Barry William said the incident occurred at about 6am, with the victim, Phighur Hardy Anton, believed to have lost control of his motorcycle before it skidded onto the left road shoulder.
“The Traffic Division of the Padawan District Police Headquarters (IPD) received information about the accident at about 6.40am. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene at 6.55am by a medical assistant.
“Initial examination found that the victim had sustained facial injuries. At the time of the incident, the victim was believed to be travelling from Jalan Haji Baki towards Jalan Kampung Semaba,” he said.
He said the case was being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, while the victim’s motorcycle had been taken to the police station for a Puspakom inspection.
“Police are also tracing witnesses who may assist in the investigation. The road at the location was reported to be straight, without a divider, road markings or directional signs,” he said. — DayakDaily
