66yo woman without comorbidities among 2 Covid-19 deaths as Sarawak sees 192 new cases

KUCHING, Nov 24: A 66 year-old woman without any history of illness was one of the two Covid-19 deaths reported today as the State recorded 192 new Covid-19 cases.

According to the State Disaster Management Committee’s (SDMC) Covid-19 update today, the woman from Kuching succumbed to the virus on Nov 20.

The other death was a 84-year-old woman from Kuching with hypertension and heart disease who passed away on Nov 22.


With two new Covid-19 deaths, the Covid-19 death toll in Sarawak has increased to 1,579.

SDMC said seven out of the 192 new Covid-19 cases in Sarawak were in the critical stage.

Two patients were in Category 5 being intubated, two patients in Category 4 require breathing aid and three patients in Category 3 have pneumonia.

There were also 101 Covid-19 patients in Category 2 with mild symptoms and 84 asymptomatic patients in Category 1.

The 192 new Covid-19 cases reported in the State has brought the cumulative number of confirmed cases in Sarawak to 249,914.

By district, Kuching registered 54 new infections followed by Miri with 40 cases, Sibu (24), Serian (15) and Bintulu (12).

Areas which recorded between one and 10 cases were Kanowit with seven cases, Betong (7), Sri Aman (4), Bau (4), Samarahan (3), Mukah (3), Lundu (3), Selangau (2), Sarikei (1), Saratok (1), Limbang (1), Dalat (1), Kapit (1), Tebedu (1), Tatau (1), Song (1), Beluru (1), Subis (1), Kabong (1), Meradong (1), Telang Usan (1) and Pakan (1).

Districts with zero new Covid-19 cases were Lawas, Daro, Tanjung Manis, Bukit Mabong, Asajaya, Sebauh, Matu, Pusa, Lubok Antu, Simunjan, Marudi, Julau and Belaga.

There were no new Covid-19 clusters identified in the State today, while six clusters remain active. — DayakDaily
