66yo man reported fallen into river near Kpg Long Latei, Baram on Oct 5 found dead

KUCHING, Oct 6: A 66-year old man reported as fallen into a river near Kampung Long Latei, Baram on Oct 5 has been found dead.

According to a report from Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operations centre, the body was found 12pm today by villagers about one kilometer downstream from where he was reported to have fallen into the river.

The body was confirmed to belong to Wan Duwing by family members before his remains were handed over to the police for further action.

Based on the chronology of events, the victim was reported to have went out to fish alone at the nearby river at 8am on Oct 4. A neighbour, who is close to the victim, reported that the victim failed to return home at 1pm that day.

A search by authorities together with the villagers was conducted on the same day but failed to locate the man’s whereabouts. — DayakDaily
