66 farm workers, residents in Sibu test positive for Covid-19, triggering new Se-Menyan Cluster

KUCHING, Aug 26: Sixty-six workers and residents of two farms located in Sengan and Menyan in Sibu have tested positive for Covid-19, giving rise to a new cluster known as the Se-Menyan Cluster.

According to the daily Covid-19 update by the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), a total of 293 people related to the Se-Menyan Cluster have been swabbed.

From this, 66 people tested positive, 205 people tested negative while the remaining 22 individuals are awaiting Covid-19 swab test results.

The Se-Menyan Cluster is one of two new workplaces clusters in Sarawak announced by SDMC today.

The second workplace cluster which has been dubbed the Jalan Hulu Engkamop Cluster in Pakan involved 14 workers of a telecommunication services provider who tested positive for Covid-19.

As of today, a total of 60 people have been swabbed with 45 testing negative and one individual awaiting the results of the Covid-19 swab test.

SDMC said the Covid-19 patients from the Se-Menyan Cluster and Jalan Hulu Engkamop Cluster have been sent to health facilities in Sibu and Sarikei for treatment.

Meanwhile, there were four new Covid-19 clusters announced in Sarawak today.

They include Se-Menyan Cluster in Sibu, Engkamop Cluster in Pakan, Telok Batu Cluster in Meradong and Sibuluh-Nowang Cluster in Bau.

On the other hand, the Mongkos 2 Cluster in Tebedu, Jalan Demak Laut Cluster in Kuching, Sungai Mangga Cluster in Simunjan and Kerina Cluster in Serian ended.

With this, there are presently 119 active clusters throughout the State, with 18 reporting 246 new cases today. — DayakDaily
