SIBU, Jan 1: A 65-year-old man is feared missing after falling off a tugboat five nautical miles downstream from the Rajang River near Tanjung Manis this afternoon.
Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Tanjung Manis was alerted of the incident at 12.30pm by the victim’s son.
A team of firefighters was immediately deployed to conduct a search and rescue (SAR) operation along with the Malaysia Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA), Civil Defence Force (APM) and police.
The victim, identified as Mustafpa Abdullah @ Moses Mleng was last seen wearing only black shorts and no other clothing.
The first day of SAR operation faced difficulties due to strong winds and high waves.
Subsequently, the MMEA temporarily been suspended the operation at 5pm with plans to resume tomorrow (Jan 2). — DayakDaily
