KANOWIT, May 9: A 64-year-old man sustained minor injuries after the four-wheel-drive (4WD) vehicle he was travelling in overturned by the roadside in an accident along Jalan Kanowit-Durin on Thursday evening.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Kanowit received the emergency call around 5pm and promptly dispatched a team to the scene, located before the Machan junction.
Upon arrival, firefighters found a Toyota Hilux involved in a single-vehicle accident with three passengers.
The elderly man, who was in the front passenger seat, was conscious but had suffered light injuries to his legs.
The driver, a 49-year-old man, and a 63-year-old passenger seated at the back had managed to exit the vehicle safely before the arrival of rescuers.
Firefighters worked to stabilise the overturned vehicle before safely assisting the injured passenger. He was put on a stretcher and subsequently handed over to medical personnel in a waiting ambulance for further treatment.
The operation concluded at 5.44pm after firefighters ensured the area was safe. — DayakDaily
