62,777 households in Kuching Division receive food aid

KUCHING, April 19: A total of 62,777 households within Kuching Division especially from the B40 income group received food aid by the Divisional Disaster Management Committee (DDMC).

DDMC Kuching chairwoman Sherrina Hussaini in a statement disclosed it has achieved an average of 90.7 per cent of food deliveries for Kuching Division.

Sherrina who is also the Kuching Resident revealed that DDMC Kuching received RM3.2 million for the procurement of food baskets for 16 constituencies in the division.


“We will continue to deliver the food baskets to the needy.

“DDMC Kuching would like to take this opportunity to thank the state government for channelling the funds to DDMC which makes it possible to supply basic food to numerous recipients in Kuching Division.

“We would also like to thank all the non-governmental organisations (NGOs), community leaders and heads of associations as well as elected representatives’ service centres who have assisted in delivering the food baskets to the eligible groups,” she added.
