60yo woman from Limbang sole Covid-19 death as Sarawak logs 64 new cases

KUCHING, Dec 14: A 60-year-old woman from Limbang who had diabetes and hypertension was the sole Covid-19 fatality reported in Sarawak today while the State recorded 64 new coronavirus infections.

According to a Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) report, the woman succumbed to Covid-19 at Miri Hospital on Dec 10, bringing the Covid-19 death toll in Sarawak to 1,613.


The 64 new infections reported raises the cumulative number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Sarawak to 251,807.

Two out of the 64 cases were deemed critical (in Category 3, 4 or 5) while the balance of 62 cases were less severe (in Category 1 or 2).

There was one intubated patient in Category 5 and one patient with pneumonia in Category 3. There were no patients requiring breathing support in Category 4.

There were also 39 patients with mild symptoms in Category 2 and 23 asymptomatic patients in Category 1.

By district, Kuching has the most number of new cases at 15 followed by Miri with 14 cases.

Districts which reported between one and 10 cases were Sibu (8), Limbang (8), Lawas (4), Sri Aman (4), Bintulu (2), Betong (1), Lubok Antu (1). Serian (1), Samarahan (1), Kapit (1), Mukah (1), Bau (1), Kanowit (1) and Selangau (1).

Districts which reported zero new Covid-19 include Sarikei, Tebedu, Tatau, Bukit Mabong, Beluru, Julau, Pakan, Dalat, Lundu, Daro, Marudi, Subis, Pusa, Asajaya, Meradong, Sebauh, Kabong, Simunjan, Tanjung Manis, Matu, Belaga, Telang Usan, Saratok and Song. — DayakDaily
