60yo lorry driver suffers broken leg in road accident along Jalan Bintulu-Sibu

Firefighters are seen working to extricate the victim who was trapped in the driver's seat.

KUCHING, Jan 14: A 60-year old lorry driver broke his leg in a road accident along Jalan Bintulu-Sibu today.

According to a report from Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operations centre, they were informed regarding the incident at 5.44pm by Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) 999 and deployed firefighter sfrom Bomba Bintulu to the location.

The operations commander reported that the incident which occurred near Kampung Jepak junction, involved two lorries and that the victim was pinned in the driver’s seat.


Firefighters utilised a special rescue tool in order to extricate the victim, who broke his right leg, from the vehicle.

He was later handed over to a Ministry of Health (MOH) ambulance for further treatment on site.

Firefighters then conducted a flushing operation at the location to clean remaining debris and ensure that the situation was safe before ending the operation. — DayakDaily
