60 fully vaccinated people among 217 Covid-19 cases recorded in Kuching Division

KUCHING, July 29: A total of 60 fully vaccinated individuals were among the 217 Covid-19 cases recorded in Kuching Division yesterday.

Minister for Local Government and Housing Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian also revealed that 50 cases involved individuals who were partially vaccinated with one dose of the vaccine.

“(There were) 11 cases who were unvaccinated individuals, while 34 cases were not eligible for vaccines and the status of 60 cases are yet to be determined,” he shared in a Facebook post last night.

Of the 217 cases reported by Kuching Division Health Office in the past 24 hours of Wednesday, Dr Sim informed that 34 cases were from out of Kuching District with Bau (16), Samarahan (8), Lundu (6) and Serian (4).

The cases were identified among the clusters involving family (79 cases), social contacts (46 cases), workplaces (23 cases) and 33 sporadic cases which indicated unlinked transmissions within the community.

There were 15 cases still pending investigation while 17 cases were detected from symptomatic screening, five were self-referral for testing, three from pre-testing and 15 from Active Case Detection (ACD).

Dr Sim, who is also State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) advisor, also pointed out that a total of 133 swab tests have been taken among close contacts to positive cases in 87 locations all over Kuching where 12 areas have been placed under lockdown involving 21,000 people.

A total of 16 locations around Kuching have been identified with more than three cases. Kampung Tabuan Lot registered the highest number of infections with 16 cases, followed by nine cases each in Kampung Tabuan Tengah and Taman Malihah, Jalan Kang Kung (6) and Kampung Bumbok (5).

Kampung Bawan, Kampung Lintang and Kampung Sungai Maong have four cases each, while Kampung Tabuan Hilir, Kampung Sikog, Kampung Semban, Kampung Sinar Baru, Taman Suria Jaya, RPR Batu Kawa and Lorong Kedandi have three cases each. — DayakDaily
