6 trekkers rescued from swamp near Rambungan-Sampadi in Lundu

KUCHING, March 10: Six individuals were rescued after being trapped in swamp area near Rambungan-Sampadi in Lundu.

According to a report from Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operations centre today, they received a call regarding the incident at 1.25pm and deployed firefighters from the Petra Jaya fire station to the location.


Based on initial information, the six victims were trapped while jungle trekking due rising water levels and they had difficulties exiting the swamp.

It was reported that the victims could only be contacted via the WhatsApp app.

Following that, a search and rescue (SAR) operation was launch by firefighters together with the PBB SWART Telaga Air team.

All of the victim was successfully rescued without any injuries. — DayakDaily
