6-month old infant is youngest Covid-19 patient in Sarawak

KUCHING, Nov 10: A six-month old infant has became the youngest Covid-19 patient in Sarawak.

This was disclosed by the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a press statement today.


SDMC said case 995, 996 and 997 were local citizens who were close contacts to the positive case 988 reported yesterday.

The committee added one of them was the six-month old infant and another was an in-law to case 988. All the three cases underwent Covid-19 swab test at a private laboratory facility in Kuching and were tested positive on November 9.

SDMC said the three cases were linked to the Greenhill Cluster and all the three patients exhibited light symptoms.

Meanwhile, the committee said Sarawak reported six new positive cases of Covid-19 with five of them in Kuching and one in Lawas.

With the additional six cases, SDMC said the cumulative number of Covid-19 cases in Sarawak now increased to 997 cases.

In the meantime, 12 patients who recovered from the virus and were discharged from the hospitals today.

The committee said there were 138 patients receiving treatment for Covid-19 in the hospitals throughout Sarawak.

In Kuching district a total of 131 active cases were reported in the past 14 days.

According to the statement, there were 17 new cases of Person-Under-Investigation (PUI) and two PUI cases awaiting laboratory test results. — DayakDaily
