KUCHING, Dec 15: Police arrested 59 individuals for various drug-related offences following a nine-day special operation carried out across Kuching.
Kuching District Police Chief ACP Alexson Naga anak Chabu in a statement today said the operation, known as ‘Ops Tapis Khas Narkotik’, was conducted by the Kuching District Police Headquarters from December 6 to December 14, 2025.
The operation aimed to curb drug distribution and abuse in the Kuching area.
“Of the total arrested, two suspects were detained under Section 39A(1) of the Act, nine under Section 12(2), while 48 others were arrested under Section 15(1)(a) under the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
Police also seized various types of drugs during the operation, including 23.84 grammes of methamphetamine and 0.90 grammes of Erimin 5 pills.
The total value of the drugs seized was estimated at RM2,682.40.

Alexson said the success of the operation was the result of continuous intelligence gathering and strong cooperation from the public.
“The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) will not compromise with any party involved in drug trafficking. Possessing, distributing or protecting drug-related activities are serious offences under the law,” he stressed.
He added that the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department remains committed to combating drugs in order to protect present and future generations.
