57yo hiker rescued at Mount Singai, Bau after suffering breathing difficulty

KUCHING, Dec 15: A 57-year-old man was safely rescued by firefighters after experiencing breathing difficulty while hiking at Mount Singai.

Bau Fire and Rescue Station received an emergency call reporting that the man was in distress at Stage 12 of the mountain near Mount Singai Church.

According to Senior Operations Commander PBK II TBK I Endy, the fire and rescue team arrived at the mountain entrance and immediately prepared equipment before moving towards the victim’s location together with personnel from the Malaysian Civil Defence Force and medical personnel.

The team reached the victim, who was experiencing breathing difficulty, and firefighters stabilised him before handing him over for further treatment, with a medical personnel accompanying the operation.

“Although experiencing breathing difficulty, the victim was still able to walk and did not sustain any injuries,” he said in a statement today.

Firefighters then escorted the victim down the mountain, where he was handed over to medical personnel to receive further medical assistance, and the operation was subsequently concluded. — DayakDaily
