54yo man in Bintulu with no comorbidities among 3 Covid-19 deaths in Sarawak today

KUCHING, April 27: A 54-year-old man with no comorbidities has passed away in Bintulu due to Covid-19 today.

He was among three new fatalities reported by the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) today.


SDMC said the victim, who was case 19,310 of Covid-19 and 163th fatality, was admitted to Bintulu Hospital after experiencing sore throat, fever, coughing, diarrhea and shortness of breath in the past few days.

Subsequently, a Covid-19 screening test was carried out on him and he tested positive for Covid-19 on April 9.

About two weeks later, his health condition deteriorated and he succumbed to the virus on April 24.

Meanwhile, SDMC had on April 23 reported that a 31-year-old with no comorbidities had also passed away in Miri due to Covid-19.

The victim, who was the 147th death in Sarawak due to Covid-19, was admitted to Miri Hospital on April 7 and later tested positive for the virus.

He was pronounced dead two weeks later on April 21.

Prior to that on March 19 this year, there were also two cases of fatalities where Covid-19 patients did not have comorbidities.

Both cases from Sibu which involved a man and a woman did not have any underlying health condition or illness such as hypertension, diabetes, heart diseases, chronic liver diseases, gout and dyslipidemia.

In the meantime, two other casualties today involved a 44 year old woman in Sarikei who had hypertension, diabetes and dyslipidemia and a 47 year old woman in Bintulu who had hypertension.

Both passed away on April 25 after testing positive for Covid-19 on April 11 and April 20 respectively following symptoms such as coughing and shortness of breath. — DayakDaily
