KUCHING, Dec 18: A 53-year-old woman from Kuching was the sole Covid-19 death reported in Sarawak today as the State recorded 41 new infections.
According to a Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) report, the patient who had hypertension, diabetes and dyslipidemia succumbed to Covid-19 on Dec 16.
This brings the death toll due to Covid-19 in Sarawak to 1,614.
Meanwhile, the 41 new cases reported pushes the cumulative number of confirmed cases in the State to 251,967.
SDMC said one out of 41 new cases was critical (Category 3, 4 and 5) while the remaining 40 cases were less severe (Category 1 and 2).
Breaking it down, one intubated patient was in Category 5 while there were no patients in Category 4 (requiring breathing aid) and Category 3 (with pneumonia).
There were 28 Covid-19 patients with mild symptoms in Category 2 and 12 Covid-19 patients in Category 1 who were asymptomatic.
By district, Miri was top with 16 cases followed by Kuching with 10 cases, Samarahan with three, Serian (3), Sibu (2), Lundu (2), Bintulu (1), Limbang (1), Meradong (1), Subis (1), and Telang Usan (1).
The remaining districts in Sarawak namely Beluru, Betong, Sri Aman, Lawas, Tanjung Manis, Sarikei, Mukah, Dalat, Saratok, Asajaya, Lubok Antu, Sebauh, Kabong, Belaga, Simunjan, Kapit, Bau, Kanowit, Selangau, Tebedu, Tatau, Bukit Mabong, Julau, Pakan, Daro, Marudi, Pusa, Matu and Song reported zero new Covid-19 cases. ā DayakDaily
