KUCHING, Aug 30: The SMK Tabuan Jaya and Dewan Hikmah Low-Risk Treatment Centres (PKRCs) here have been equipped with 520 beds.

State Local Government and Housing Minister Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian in a Facebook post today thanked all parties who had come together to contribute the beds for the operation of the PKRCs.

“PKRC is a place where medical monitoring is available for those who are Covid-19 positive in Categories 1, 2 and 3 with co-morbidity or whose home environment is not suitable for self-isolation,” he said.

Dr Sim also apologised for patients not having the luxury of individual bathrooms, toilets or private rooms, similar to a public hospital environment.

“Although the PKRCs are facilitated by Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) under the federal government and not the Kuching Divisional Health Office, the Sarawak government also helped out as much financially.

“This is because it’s the people of Sarawak who need the facilities and therefore, we have no time to be calculative during this health crisis at present,” he added. — DayakDaily
