52 yo man with no illness latest BID case in Sarawak as Miri tops daily infections with 78 cases

KUCHING, Feb 21: A 52-year-old man with no medical history of illnesses is the latest brought-in-dead (BID) Covid-19 fatality reported in Sarawak today.

In a statement today, the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said the man from Betong had passed away on Feb 17.

With one Covid-19 fatality reported, the State death toll increased to 1,623 after the previous fatality was reported on Feb 18.

At the same time, Sarawak has recorded 294 daily infections today, a slight decrease from yesterday’s total, which was 309.

By district, Miri topped the list with 78 cases, followed by Sibu (75), Kuching (74), Kanowit (14), Sarikei (11), Kapit (8), Song (7), Bintulu (6), Serian (4), Sri Aman (4), Samarahan (3), and Mukah (2).

Meanwhile, Limbang, Bau, Asajaya, Saratok, Subis, Matu, Telang Usan, and Pakan recorded one case each.

The latest figures thus pushed the overall State Covid-19 tally to 256,671.

Of the new cases, 128 are in Category 1 (no symptoms), and 164 are in Category 2 (mild symptoms).

Meanwhile, the remaining two cases are classified as in the critical stage involving two Category 5 patients who need a ventilator to breathe.

No new clusters were declared today. Sarawak has two active clusters — Kampung Semeba Cluster and Jalan Kolej Cluster, both in Kuching. — DayakDaily
