SIBU, July 12: A 51-year-old man who was arrested for the alleged murder of a single mother has been remanded four days by the Mukah Magistrate’s Court.

Magistrate Penny Narawi granted the remand order from the date of the suspect’s arrest, from July 11 to 14.

The investigation officer of the case had earlier applied for a seven day remand, but it was not approved.

The 44-year-old single mother of two children was found dead in a room of a resort in Mukah on Sunday.

Fast action by the police led to the arrest of a 52-year-old man, an hour after the body was found.

Mukah OCPD Dep Supt Muhamad Rizal Alias believes the police have solved the case with the arrest of the suspect, as the victim was last seen with the suspect.

He added that the police rushed to the resort at about 12.35pm on Sunday after being informed of the woman’s death.

“The victim had injuries on her neck and left waist,” said DSP Muhamad Rizal.

He added that the woman had checked in the resort on Saturday (July 9) afternoon with her two children. — DayakDaily
