KUCHING, March 28: Sarawak Yang di-Pertua, Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud and his wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Raghad Kurdi Taib presented Ramadan contributions to 50 asnaf (less fortunate) in the ‘Majlis Jalinan Kasih of Ragad Foundation #kamekprihatin’ programme at the Astana Negeri here last night.
In a media release issued by Sarawak Information Department (Japen), most of the recipients who came from different backgrounds, races and religions, received contributions in the form of food baskets of daily necessities and cash.
After the presentation ceremony, Taib and Raghad also performed the Isya’ and tarawih prayers with Muslim guests led by an Imam from Masjid Darul Hana, Ismanhadi Jaafar.
Also present were Sarawak Federal Secretary Ahmad Nadzri Mohd Hassan, Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Sarawak branch rector Prof Dato Dr Jamil Hamali, and senior private secretary to the Sarawak Yang di-Pertua, Riziandy Nawawi.
