5-month-old baby boy BID in Lawas Hospital on Dec 7 as Sarawak records 74 new Covid-19 cases

KUCHING, Dec 11: A five-month-old baby boy without any underlying health conditions from Limbang was reported as a brought-in-dead (BID) case at Lawas Hospital on Dec 7.

According to the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in its latest updates on the Covid-19 situation in Sarawak, the infant was among three Covid-19 deaths confirmed in Limbang between Dec 7 and 10.

The other two fatalities involved a 73-year-old woman and an 81-year-old man with multiple morbidities, including high blood, diabetes, heart disease and chronic kidney disease.


This brought the death toll in Sarawak to 1,609 as of Dec 11.

Sarawak recorded 74 new Covid-19 cases in 16 districts today, bringing the cumulative number of Covid-19 cases in Sarawak to 251,642.

Of the new cases, only one case is under Category 4 with pneumonia and required oxygen  support.

There are 33 cases under Category 1 without symptoms and 40 cases under Category 2 with mild symptoms.

As for the breakdown of cases, both Kuching and Miri recorded 26 cases each; followed by Limbang (5); Mukah and Bintulu (3 each); while Dalat, Sibu, Lawas, Sarikei, Samarahan, Serian, Lundu, Daro, Marudi, Bau and Subis has one case each.

There are currently no active clusters in Sarawak. — DayakDaily
