4yo child’s death by falling TV in Bintulu: Father, stepmother detained for murder probe

BINTULU, Oct 17: A four-year, seven-month-old child was pronounced dead at Bintulu Hospital at around 7.50pm on Oct 15, with Sinchew Sarawak reporting that the fatal injury was allegedly caused by a falling television.

The incident is said to have occurred in Sg Setiam.

Bintulu District Police Chief Supt Nixon Joshua Ali confirmed that the child’s 34-year-old father and 28-year-old stepmother have been detained to assist with the investigation.

“Initial investigations revealed injuries to the victim’s head and waist. The case has been classified under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder,” he said in a statement today.

Nixon added that both suspects have been placed under a seven-day remand for further investigation.

The public is advised not to speculate or spread false information, as this may cause unnecessary alarm in the community.
