MIRI, Aug 26: A 40-year-old man escaped with only minor injuries after his four-wheel drive vehicle veered off the road and crashed into several trees in an accident along Jalan Bakong-Miri late Monday night (Aug 25).
The impact left the vehicle’s roof badly dented, trapping the driver inside.
A distress call was received at 10.30pm, prompting Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Lopeng to dispatch a team to the scene near SK Kelapa Sawit 2.
Upon arrival, firefighters found the driver pinned in his seat. Using a rescue tool spreader, they managed to pry open the driver’s side door and safely extricate the victim.
The man sustained only minor head injuries and was later treated at the Simpang Bekenu Health Clinic.
The operation was declared over at about 12.20am after firefighters ensured the area was safe. — DayakDaily
