KUCHING, June 7: A 48-year-old man was killed in an accident that occurred at 4.30am at Jalan Tun Datuk Patinggi Haji Abdul Rahman Yakub here on Saturday (June 6).

In a statement, Kuching district police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said that the victim, who was riding a motorcycle, was travelling from the Tun Datuk Patinggi Haji Abdul Rahman Yakub Bridge towards the city centre when he was believed to have lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a guardrail on the right side of the road.

“As a result of the accident, the victim suffered severe head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene at 4.42am by medical personnel from the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH), he said.

He added that the victim’s body was taken to the hospital’s forensic department for post-mortem and that the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
