KUCHING, Jan 8: A 47-year-old man from Sibu is the sole Covid-19 death reported in Sarawak today.
According to Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement today, the man who passed away at Sibu Hospital on Jan 6 had several comorbidities, namely diabetes, dyslipidemia, and chronic kidney disease.
SDMC also informed that Sarawak recorded 15 new Covid-19 positive cases today, bringing the cumulative number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Sarawak to 252,476.
Of the 15 new cases reported, four are under Category 1 (asymptomatic), 10 are under Category 2 (mild symptoms), and one critical case is reported under Category 4, where the patient suffers from lung infection and requires oxygen therapy.
By district, Samarahan recorded the highest number of cases with seven cases, followed by Lawas with three cases, and Kuching with two cases, while three other districts, namely Kapit, Sibu, and Beluru, recorded one case each.
As of today, no new clusters have been reported in Sarawak. ― DayakDaily
