479 new Covid-19 cases in Sarawak today

KUCHING, May 8: A total of 479 new positive Covid-19 cases were reported throughout the state today, with six fatalities recorded.

The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a press statement today said from the total number of cases reported today, 324 cases (67.24 per cent) were detected in Sibu (125), Bintulu (110) and Miri (89) districts.

“Other districts that reported new infection cases are namely Kapit (35), Sri Aman (23), Mukah (22), Kuching (14), Kanowit (13), Sebauh (12), Selangau (9), Subis (5), Beluru (5), Lubok Antu (4), Tatau (3), Serian (3), Saratok (2), Song (2), Tanjung Manis (1), Meradong (1) and Samarahan (1). This increase the total number of cases reported to 34,706 cases,” it said.

SDMC said during the screening test, a total of 64 individuals had shown signs and experienced symptoms of the virus.

It added another 419 others individuals were also put under quarantine orders.

One the same note, SDMC said a total of six deaths due to Covid-19 were also recorded in the State today.

“The cases were reported in Sibu (3), Bintulu (1), Kapit (1), and Saratok (1) involving the locals, and SDMC would like to extend its condolences to all of the victim’s family members,” the statement read. — DayakDaily
