416 new Covid-19 cases reported in Sarawak, 11 critical

KUCHING, Nov 9: Kuching district registered triple-digit new daily cases yet again today as Sarawak’s total climbed to 416 cases, an increase from 385 cases reported yesterday.

The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement said however, of the new cases today, only eleven cases are classified as in the critical stage.


Five patients who developed pneumonia but can still breathe on their own are in Category 3, three patients who need oxygen supply are in Category 4, while three patients who need ventilators to breathe are in Category 5.

Meanwhile, the remaining 405 new cases are in Category 1 (no symptoms) and Category 2 (mild symptoms).

By district, Kuching took the lead in terms of numbers with 138 cases, followed by Miri (55), Sibu (51), Bintulu (41), Mukah (21), Limbang (21), Lawas (18), Matu (12) and Dalat (11).

Districts recording daily cases below 10 are Bau (9), Samarahan (7), Serian (7), Kanowit (6), Daro (4), Betong (3) while Sri Aman, Simunjan, Kapit, Lubok Antu, Pakan, Belaga, Pusa, Asajaya and Subis recorded one case each.

Fifteen other districts comprising Sarikei, Lundu, Marudi, Song, Saratok, Julau, Meradong, Beluru, Selangau, Tanjung Manis, Tebedu, Kabong, Tatau, Bukit Mabong and Sebauh did not record any new cases today.

As for Covid-19 deaths, 13 new fatalities were reported bringing the death toll in Sarawak to 1,465.

At the same time, SDMC said there were no new clusters declared in Sarawak with the Industri Jalan Semeba Cluster in Kuching officially declared ended today.

With this, there are a total of 20 active clusters in Sarawak presently. — DayakDaily
