BINTULU, Dec 9: A total of 41 people were evacuated in two separate flood incidents in Bintulu late Monday night (Dec 8) and early this morning as rising waters inundated homes and forced emergency responders into action.
In the first incident at Rumah Roselind Suang, a team from the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Bintulu evacuated 25 people who were stranded inside their home when floodwaters rose to unsafe levels.
Firefighters used an aluminium boat to ferry the victims to safety before transporting them to the temporary relief centre (PPS) at the Civic Centre using a lorry.

The operation, led by PBK I Eric Wilson Jutin with senior officer PPgB Francis Aceh Angai on site, was brought under control at 2.38am and concluded at 2.45am.
The second evacuation took place earlier at Kampung Kemunting, where 16 residents were moved to the same PPS after floodwaters swamped the village.
Bomba Bintulu firefighters arrived at 10.38pm and assisted in transferring the victims using a lorry as water levels continued to rise. The operation ended at 12.46am.
Flood monitoring efforts conducted across Gempak Bintulu, Taman Jason, Taman Bandar Jaya, and Rumah Roslin recorded water levels of up to two feet, though no further evacuations were required.
Residents in the affected areas were advised to remain alert and take necessary precautions as authorities continue to monitor the situation. — DayakDaily
