41 employees of security firm test positive for Covid-19 in new Salak Land Cluster

KUCHING, July 15: A total of 41 employees of a private security and control firm located at Jalan Pustaka here have tested positive for Covid-19, giving rise to the Salak Land Cluster.

According to a report from the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), the cluster is a workplace cluster with a total of 187 people who have been undergone tests for Covid-19 so far.

Out of the 187 people, 41 have tested positive, while the other 146 have tested negative for the virus.

The Salak Land Cluster is one of the two new clusters identified in Sarawak while another cluster is the Sebayor Cluster in Samarahan.

The Sebayor Cluster was formed following targeted screening involving villagers at Kampung Sebayor and close contact screening to the index case in Samarahan.

The targeted screening has yielded 16 people who tested positive while a total of 438 villagers have been swabbed and the balance of 422 villagers have tested negative.

The Covid-19 patients from both clusters have been admitted to Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) and Covid-19 Quarantine and Low Risk Treatment Centre (PKRC) for isolation and treatment.

On the other hand, the Semanok Estet Cluster and the Ulu Sangan Cluster in Tatau has ended.

With two new clusters and two clusters ended, 98 clusters remain active in Sarawak, out of which 10 active clusters reported 147 new cases.

The balance of 88 active clusters report zero cases of Covid-19 today. — DayakDaily
