KUCHING, Jan 8: A total of 41 individuals were arrested for various drug-related offenses during a special three-day “Op Tapis” operation in Kuching from Jan 4 to 6.
Kuching District Police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said the operation targeted drug distribution and abuse in the district.
“Several types of drugs were seized during the operation, including 121.02 grammes of methamphetamine, 248.10 grammes of MDMA powder, and 9.80 grammes of Erimin 5 pills.
“The total estimated value of the seized drugs is RM15,532,” he said in a statement yesterday (Jan 7).
Of those arrested, five face charges under Section 39B, two under Section 39A(1), two under Section 12(2), and 32 under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
Alexson credited the operation’s success to continuous intelligence efforts and strong public cooperation.
He emphasised that the Royal Malaysia Police will take firm action against anyone involved in drug distribution, noting that possession, trafficking, or sheltering of drugs is a serious offense.
“The Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department is committed to combating drugs to safeguard present and future generations. Drugs remain the country’s number one enemy,” he said.
The public is urged to report any drug-related information via the JSJN hotline at 012-208 7222 or the Sarawak IPK hotline at 017-592 9211. — DayakDaily
