“Today, I and all the residents in Kapit feel excited and grateful, and we would like to express our heartfelt thanks to the Ministry of Infrastructure and Port Development Sarawak for approving a total of 40 projects worth RM1.233 billion for the Kapit Division,” he said in a statement posted on his social media.

He made the remarks during the groundbreaking ceremony for the Nanga Ibau-Ulu Sungai Ibau road project held today.

Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, who officiated the ceremony, revealed that all 40 projects are fully funded by the Sarawak government and are either currently under implementation or scheduled to commence soon.

He disclosed that 19 of the projects have already been fully completed, reflecting the state government’s strong commitment and capacity to deliver development initiatives on time and up to standard.

Meanwhile, five projects worth RM116 million are currently under construction. These include essential road and bridge works aimed at improving connectivity and accessibility for remote communities.

The remaining 16 projects, with a combined value of RM721 million, are expected to be tendered later this year, further intensifying development momentum across the division.

The groundbreaking event also marked a milestone for the commencement of the Nanga Ibau-Ulu Sungai Ibau road project — a long-anticipated development set to enhance mobility and open up new economic opportunities for residents in the area. — DayakDaily
