MIRI, Jan 16: The arrests of four men, identified as ‘Lakia Teck’ gang members, have led to the recovery of seven stolen vehicles, including a motorcycle.
The seized items are worth about RM200,000, Miri police chief ACP Lim Meng Seah told a press conference here today.
The suspects, all locals, are aged between 28 and 45. They were collared between Jan 4 and 5 in the city and in Long Lama, Marudi.
“The group has been actively involved in the activity for the past six months prior to their arrests,” said Lim.
“They all have criminal records.”
He said their modus operandi was to steal vehicles in the city and sell them in the interior areas, such as oil palm estates.
Each vehicle is sold for around RM12,000 and above.
“The selling price depends on the vehicles’ brand and condition,” Lim revealed. — DayakDaily
