KUCHING, Aug 26: A total of 39 Covid-19 positive individuals have been linked to the new Kampung Sibuluh-Nowang Cluster in Bau so far.
According to the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in its daily update on the Covid-19 situation in Sarawak today, the community cluster involved residents from both Kampung Sibuluh and Kampung Nowang, which is located along Bau-Lundu Road.
“Out of the 145 individuals screened, 39 of them were found positive for Covid-19, including the index case, and 83 others were negative, while another 23 individuals are still waiting for their test results,” it said.
All Covid-19 positive individuals from the cluster have been sent to Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) and Quarantine and Low-Risk Patient Treatment Centres (PKRC) in Bau and Kuching.
SDMC also revealed there was a second community cluster detected in Telok Batu Meradong, involving a longhouse which has been placed under an Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO).
The committee said the cluster, dubbed the Telok Batu Cluster, involved a total of 16 positive cases, with 13 new cases reported today.
“From a total of 60 individuals screened, 16 of them, including the index case, tested positive, while 42 others tested negative. Two other individuals are still awaiting test results.
“All infected individuals from the cluster were brought to Sarikei Hospital, including to Quarantine and Low-Risk Patient Treatment Centres (PKRC) in Meradong district,” it said.
Meanwhile, a total of 246 new positive cases were reported from 18 active clusters throughout the state today.
The clusters that showed double-digit gains were Se-Menyan Cluster (66), Kampung Bunuk Cluster (44), Bungey Cluster (40), Long Urun Cluster (21), Telok Batu Cluster (13), Kampung Matang Lot Cluster (11).
The Lubuk Bukut Cluster and Mas Sawai Cluster reported eight new cases each, followed by seven cases each for the Jalan Hulu Engkamop Cluster, Jalan Hospital Sri Aman Cluster and Opar Cluster; four for the Kampung Tanjong Bako Cluster; three for the Lorong Cahaya Damai Cluster; two each for the Kampung Lintang Baru Cluster and Kampung Bunga Cluster; and one each for the Tanjong Kibong Cluster, Jalan Buan Cluster and Nanga Pelugau Cluster. — DayakDaily
