38 new Covid-19 cases detected nationwide

KUCHING, June 1: The Health Ministry confirmed there were 38 new Covid-19 cases as of noon today, bringing the national tally to 7,857.

Its director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said out of the total, 26 were imported cases from overseas, while the remaining 12 were local transmissions consisting of six Malaysians and six foreigners.

No new Covid-19 fatalities were reported for the 10th consecutive day, leaving the country’s death toll from the infectious disease unchanged at 115.


“A total of 51 patients have recovered and were discharged in the last 24 hours, bringing the total cumulative discharged cases to 6,404.

“Currently, there are 1,338 active cases being treated in hospitals nationwide,” Dr Noor Hisham said during the Health Minstry’s daily Covid-19 media briefing in Putrajaya today.

To-date, eight patients are being treated in Intensive Care Units (ICUs), out of which, two require the aid of breathing machines. — DayakDaily
