KUCHING, Feb 2: A 37-year-old local woman was killed in a hit-and-run accident along Jalan Puncak Borneo here this morning.
According to Padawan District Police Chief Supt Mohd Irwan Hafiz Md Radzi, the fatal accident occurred at about 7.20am and involved two vehicles.
Initial investigations found that the victim was in the process of entering her vehicle, which was parked by the roadside, when she was struck from behind by another car.
“The vehicle involved is believed to be a silver Perodua. The driver fled the scene after the collision,” he said in a statement issued today.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Padawan District Police Headquarters Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division is appealing to members of the public who may have witnessed the incident or have any information to contact the investigating officer, Insp Abang Azizil Fansuri Abang Abdullah, at 014-8677853 to assist with investigations.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. — DayakDaily
