376 new Covid-19 cases in Sarawak today, majority in Category 1 and 2

KUCHING, Feb 19: Sarawak recorded a slight decrease in Covid-19 cases today with 376 cases as compared to 390 yesterday, with most being classified as Category 1 and 2 cases in terms of severity.

According to the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement today, Kuching continue to register the most cases with 118, followed by Miri with 80, Sibu (75), Kapit (22), and Song (14).

A total of 18 districts also reported new cases namely Sarikei (7), six cases each for Matu and Lawas, four cases each for Samarahan and Limbang, three in Mukah, two cases each in Serian, Sri Aman, Tanjung Manis, Kanowit, Meradong and Bau, and one case each for Bau, Asajaya, Selangau, Bukit Mabong, Subis, Tebedu, and Daro.


Of the total cases reported, two cases were in Category 4 with lung infection and require oxygen support, four are in Category 3 with lung infections, and 204 in Category 2 with mild symptoms, while Category 1 saw 166 asymptomatic cases.

This brings the cumulative number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in the State to 256,068 cases.

As of today, only two clusters remain active in Sarawak without new cases being reported.

Meanwhile, 13 individuals were compounded by the police in Kuching for breaching the Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs) for failure to register with the MySejahtera app when entering premises. — DayakDaily
